Michael Forester

SGA Operations Officer, The Chartered Governance Institute UK & Ireland

As the Operations Officer for the Sports Governance Academy, Michael is responsible for the delivery of its service, knowledge base, events, and training courses.

Michael has over 7 years of experience working in Sports and Policy development for Local Government. A significant amount of his work has been the delivery of projects aimed at increasing participation in sport and physical activity at all levels. Many of these projects have been aimed at adults and children from underprivileged backgrounds who have had little or no opportunities to take part in sport.

Michael is a big fan of rugby and cricket. He played rugby for his hometown club of Banbury RUFC for 5 years - until his shoulder gave up. He has enormous enthusiasm for the social, physical, and mental benefits that sport can offer. Michael believes that good governance in sports organisations means that these benefits can be more accessible to all.
