Helen Weeks

Helen is the Sport Governance and Welfare lead for Swim England, leading on the development and implementation of minimum governance standards across all affiliated organisations and creating content and delivering training for judicial, disciplinary and welfare volunteer roles.

Having previously been instrumental in establishing the NGB’s minimum affiliation standard for clubs, Helen has recently developed and launched a new Governance Code for county associations affiliated to Swim England and is currently finalising a standard for regional that is adapted from Tier 3 from Sport England’s Code for Sports Governance and relevant to aquatic sports. Both of these codes will improve governance across aquatics and will support a safe and welcoming culture for the sport.

In her spare time, Helen is a volunteer member of British Canoeing Case Management Group and is currently undertaking the IOC Safeguarding Officer in Sport certificate, both of which is support her areas of work and bring further learning and areas of development to the organisation.
