Ruth Miller
Business Planning Manager, British Cycling
Ruth Miller is a seasoned sports governance and change management professional with over 20 years of experience. Currently, she serves as the Business Planning Manager at British Cycling and a Director at Fair Game (Football) CIC.
After completing a physiotherapy degree from King’s College London, Ruth pivoted her career by leading the delivery of sports leagues and competitions for the University of London and its colleges during a 12-month sabbatical. Her focus on excellence in sports governance began in earnest after completing an MBA from Brunel University. Since then, she has driven impactful projects across NGBs, national agencies, local authorities, and clubs.
At Scottish Hockey, Ruth transformed operations and governance, in readiness for, and leveraging the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. As a consultant, she developed sportscotland’s first Governance Framework and guided numerous NGBs in their governance improvement journeys.
At British Cycling, Ruth led the successful response to the Code for Sports Governance requirements. She continues to oversee its further implementation, ‘cascading’ good governance and ensuring optimal alignment to deliver future strategic ambitions. Ruth also leads on and has delivered against a wider portfolio of strategic projects from the first Environmental Sustainability Strategy to the current Digital Transformation programme.
Ruth joined Fair Game (Football) CIC as Head of Governance in December 2023 and was recently appointed to the Board of Directors, where she supports board development and strategic direction.
