Geraldine is the Director of Welfare & Safe Sport at British Gymnastics, having joined in June 2023. The newly created role sees Geraldine lead the organisation’s work to ensure the safety of nearly 400,000 members across the UK by creating a safe environment, ensuring they are protected from harm, abuse and exploitation and promoting wellbeing.
Geraldine oversees what is now one of the largest safeguarding teams across any sport. She also heads up a newly established welfare team recruited to work with and support the gymnastics community and provide targeted support to those affected during the safeguarding process, as well as proactively supporting gymnasts on national Performance squads.
Geraldine has significant welfare and safeguarding experience having spent six years at Girlguiding leading their work on safe practice and 30 years with the Metropolitan Police, alongside voluntary roles including being an independent Case Management Group member for England Netball, and Safeguarding Advisor for the domestic abuse charity Surviving Economic Abuse.
